Landmark Creations Brings David Byrne’s “Tight Spot” Globe to Life
In 2011, Landmark Creations collaborated with artist and Talking Heads frontman David Byrne to create the centerpiece for his Tight Spot installation under New York City’s High Line. This 48-by-20-foot inflatable globe, crafted from fan-powered, plastic-coated fabric, was designed to bulge against the surrounding beams and walls of the West 25th Street lot.
Emitting deep, pulsating sounds created from Byrne’s filtered voice, the globe captivated visitors with its imposing scale and tactile appeal. Landmark Creations’ expertise in large-scale custom inflatables was instrumental in transforming Byrne’s vision into reality, as featured in the Wall Street Journal and Landmark’s own Landmark on Location series.
