Cold-Air Inflatable Mosasaur Mascot Brings Attention to Water Conservation
Inflatable Mascot Brings the Mosasaur Back to Life
What the heck's a mosasaur and why would you want one as your mascot? Because this type of dinosaur was an extinct marine reptile and dominant predator in its time.
The excitement kids have for prehistoric creatures combined with the nature of the East Dakota Water Development District made it a perfect match.
The District itself promotes conservation, development, and the proper management of water resources. One way they do this is through the Big Sioux Water Festival: the largest one-day, all-day children's festival in South Dakota.
The festival is an opportunity for fourth-grade students to learn more about water issues and how they can do their part in protecting the environment. The festival provides hands-on, interactive activities and also involves a historical aspect of water resources from prehistoric times to human settlement to the modern day era. Did it work?
Did the kids go crazy and learn a lot? Water Resource Biologist and Outreach & Education Coordinator Deb Springman said, "Since using [the inflatable mascot] at our festival, we have had requests to borrow it. There was a lot of curiosity from students as well as teachers."
Why choose Landmark? Deb told us, "We borrowed an inflatable right whale from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. (It was very well designed & life-like.) After inquiring who made it for them, we learned about Landmark. Your company had great products at reasonable prices." 'Nuff said.
